Gundersen Health System

Project Overview

A new $1.6 million clinic, for the LaCrescent Minnesota community, opened in December of 2008. The 8,000 square foot facility offers Family Medicine, Specialty Outreach, Radiology and Laboratory functions. Features include: a drive under canopy, lobby area with clerestory lighting from above, check-in and check-out areas, lab and radiology suites, 8 exam rooms, 4 hybrid exam rooms, 1 procedure room, patient education room, nurses station, pre-exam areas, 4 provider offices, managers office, conference room and staff lounge.

A LEED Silver rating is being achieved through sustainable building principles that include: white concrete paving, white membrane roof, rain garden and native landscaping, on-site storm water retention, green tinted windows, energy efficient lighting and controls, and energy efficient HVAC systems and controls. Materials and products were specified that are durable, non-toxic, high in recycled content and easily recycled. Fifty percent of the building products were specified to be manufactured within 500 miles of the project site. Indoor air sources of contamination are controlled, maximum ventilation is provided and moisture accumulation is prevented. The facility has a “systems check” that tests, verifys and fine-tunes the performance of key building systems so that they perform at the highest levels of efficiency.
