Douglas J. Ramsey, AIA, LEED

Doug earned his Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Minnesota and brings over 35 years of design experience to his role—34 of those years with HSR. He has served on HSR’s Board of Directors for 23 years and has held the position of President & CEO since 2023. Doug is a licensed architect in both Wisconsin and Minnesota, with a primary focus on projects in the Higher Education and Civic/Government sectors.

Over the past two decades, Doug has been deeply involved in the transformation of the Western Technical College campus in La Crosse, helping shape it into a globally recognized leader in innovative education. This work reflects his long-standing commitment to impactful, community-centered design in the La Crosse area.

Doug is passionate about both his family and the power of great design. HSR’s core principle of "three families" resonates with Doug and his wife Barb, their two daughters, two grandchildren, and their Labradors. Outside of work, he enjoys biking, fishing, hunting anything that flies, and spending time at the family cabin in Stoddard. Doug remains actively engaged in hands-on design and is committed to staying current with advancements in design technology.
